30 Jan December 2024 – January 2025 Update: Events and New Opportunities at Rivenhall IWMF
As we settle into 2025, we hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year. Now the festivities are over, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on what has been a busy and rewarding period for the Rivenhall IWMF team. December and January so far have brought a great mix of community engagement, industry events and exciting opportunities for people interested in building a career in sustainable waste management!
Supporting Kelvedon Community Groups Over the Festive Season
One of the highlights of December was the chance to support several fantastic community initiatives in and around Kelvedon. We were proud to lend our help to the Kelvedon Scouts as they work to replace the windows and doors in their much-loved scout hut. The group plays an important role in giving young people access to outdoor learning, adventure, and social development. Creating a warm, safe and welcoming environment for the Scouts to meet is something we’re delighted to contribute to, and we look forward to seeing the project progress over the coming months.
We also had the pleasure of supporting the Kelvedon Community Association during one of the most magical parts of the festive season – Santa’s Grotto. Helping to ensure that every child who visited received a special gift was a privilege. We know that community traditions like the Grotto bring people together and create memories that last, and we’re grateful to all the volunteers who put so much work into making the event a success. Our teams were proud to spread a little festive cheer in the village this year!
Engaging With the Industry at the RWM Expo
Alongside these community activities, December also saw the team attending the Resource and Waste Management Expo (RWM Expo). The event remains a key date in the industry calendar, bringing together professionals, innovators, suppliers and customers from across the waste and recycling sector.
Across both days of the Expo, we enjoyed the opportunity to meet with existing contacts and introduce the Rivenhall IWMF project to new ones. Conversations centred around the future of sustainable waste management, modern energy-from-waste solutions, and the importance of investing in infrastructure that supports a circular economy. Events like RWM help us stay at the forefront of sector developments while continuing to share knowledge about how facilities like Rivenhall can support the UK’s long-term waste strategy.
Showcasing Rivenhall at the Essex Festival of Business
The latter half of last year also included an appearance at the Essex Festival of Business. This event was a great opportunity to connect with local companies, professionals and job-seekers to showcase what Rivenhall IWMF will bring to the region. Hosted by the Essex Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Festival brought together organisations from a range of sectors, all with a shared interest in driving forward local business growth and innovation.
Our team was on hand to discuss the progress of the facility, the technologies involved, and the variety of roles that will be created over the coming years. Visitors were able to learn more about the project’s ambition to support sustainable waste management while offering long-term employment opportunities for people across Essex and the wider region.
Introducing the Indaver International Graduate Programme (IIGP)
Kicking off 2025, we were also excited to highlight the Indaver International Graduate Programme (IIGP) – a fantastic opportunity for graduates seeking a career with real purpose. The programme is designed to develop skilled, motivated professionals through a structured two-year pathway that includes hands-on experience across four different departments, each lasting six months.
One of the most exciting elements of the IIGP is the chance to spend one rotation abroad, gaining international experience in countries including Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany or Ireland/the UK. Participants are supported by dedicated managers and coaches and are encouraged to shape their own journey by choosing a path that aligns with their interests and strengths.
Graduates who join the programme become valued members of the Indaver team from day one, contributing directly to projects and learning from experienced professionals across Europe. It’s a brilliant route into the industry for anyone passionate about sustainability, engineering, the circular economy or innovative waste solutions. Applications are now open, and we encourage anyone interested, or anyone who knows the perfect candidate, to explore the programme further and apply.
Essex Festival of Business
Lastly, a big thank you to everyone who visited our stand at the Essex Festival of Business. The level of interest we received in both the project and upcoming job opportunities was incredibly encouraging. For anyone who wasn’t able to attend but would like to know more, information on available roles can be found at indaver.com/careers.
Here’s to An Exciting Year Ahead!
December and January demonstrated once again how important community collaboration, industry engagement and talent development are to the wider goals of the Rivenhall IWMF project. From supporting local groups and festive events, to connecting with businesses and highlighting new career pathways, we’re proud of the positive momentum built over the past few months.
As we continue into 2025, we look forward to sharing more updates on the facility’s progress, future recruitment, and our ongoing work within the community. Thank you for following our journey, and once again, we hope you had a happy, healthy start to the New Year.
