Crank Up 2026: Community Spirit and Celebrating Rural Heritage in the Sunshine at Rivenhall IWMF

The sun certainly made an appearance for Crank Up 2026 at Rivenhall IWMF, with blue skies setting the scene for a fantastic day of community, heritage and family fun! Held at Woodhouse Farm alongside the Farm Machinery Preservation Society’s annual exhibition, our annual Crank Up event welcomed more than 700 visitors who came together to enjoy a celebration of Essex’s agricultural heritage, local craftsmanship and sustainable innovation.

From vintage machinery and classic vehicles to live music, delicious food stalls and educational exhibits, the event once again proved why it has become such a popular fixture in the local calendar.

A Day Out for All Ages

Whether visitors were farm machinery enthusiasts, curious crafters, local residents or simply families looking for an enjoyable day out, there was something for everyone to discover.

The event field was filled with an impressive selection of exhibits, including vintage tractors, stationary engines, military vehicles, motorcycles and classic cars. Members of the public enjoyed getting up close to these carefully preserved machines, many of which offered a fascinating glimpse into the region’s rich agricultural and engineering history.

Alongside the machinery displays, visitors were able to browse a variety of craft stalls and demonstrations showcasing the talents of local makers. Farm animals proved popular with younger visitors, while food and drink vendors and lots of live music kept everyone raring to go amid the heat on site.

One of the standout attractions of the day was the tractor trailer ride, which proved extremely popular and kept visitors of all ages entertained throughout the event!

Learning More About Rivenhall IWMF

While Crank Up is known for its celebration of farming heritage and community spirit, it also provides an opportunity for local residents to learn more about the important work taking place at the Rivenhall Integrated Waste Management Facility.

Throughout the day, a large number of visitors stopped by the Information Hub to find out more about the energy-from-waste plant and the role it plays in managing Essex’s residual waste.

Members of the Rivenhall IWMF team were on hand to answer questions and explain how the facility helps divert waste away from landfill while generating sustainable energy. These conversations offered visitors valuable insight into how modern waste management infrastructure can contribute to a more sustainable future for the region.
