17 Apr Indaver Respond to Planning Officer Recommendation

We have noted the recommendation from the Planning Officer to members of Essex County Council Planning Committee.
We believe this recommendation and the decision to take the application to committee in April to be premature for a number of reasons:
- We have undertaken public engagement and have responded to requests from the public to undertake further studies. The results of these studies will not be available until May. Therefore, we are surprised that a recommendation has been made prior to the publication of these completed studies.
- Secondly, the Environment Agency is currently in the process of determining the application for a lower stack. Although these are separate and distinct processes, allowing further time before deciding the planning application would also allow this process to conclude.
- Thirdly, in the upcoming local elections, there are candidates who are basing their campaign on opposing the IWMF so this decision could unfairly influence the election results one way or another.
Indaver and Gent Fairhead are currently considering their response.
